DD will shortly be having a birthday party. She has requested an outdoor swimming party, and that has been planned (we're in a part of the world where weather should be reliable).

The party is set for 2 - 5.00, and I am starting to think about food. I won't need to serve lunch or tea, but would love to hear suggestions for party food and snacks that her friends might enjoy - in addition to the cake, that is...

What would you serve? All suggestions gratefully received. Oh btw if it matters, the guests will be mostly girls.

Pizza, garlic bread, sliced cucumber and carrots with dips.

A lot of a little rather than a little of a lot. Iyswim.

Good suggestions - thank you.

I had thought perhaps:

Cherry toms
Grapes
Babybel and/or string cheese
Big bowl of strawberries
Big bowl of satsumas (they'd peel themselves)
Bottled water (possibly with individual packets of mix to put in for flavouring - lemonade, etc)
Yoghurts (on ice)

Any other ideas that might be good at an outdoor afternoon party for this age group?

Little cocktail sausages
Blinis with cream cheese and smoked salmon
Crisps

I usually make cup cakes to go on my fab cupcake stand as well.

Thanks for that.

Ideas from anyone else?

I did "afternoon tea" for DDs last birthday party as it wasn't an obvious mealtime - bite size triangular sandwiches, savoury mini muffins, blinis and a big platter of fruit (watermelon was particularly popular on a hot day) with mini cupcakes and birthday cake.

She wants a pool party for her next birthday and I'm going to fire up the barbie and just do hotdogs and birthday cake. Not sure if you're in a country with more sophisticated tastes Grin
