Adult dd (25h) is temporarily at home for a short time before moving out.
What I really struggle with is her abrupt tone to me; her lack of empathy, love or care; her inability to see how I’m struggling; how ill I’ve been recently.
She presents as completely different to my female friends to whom she treats far more pleasantly and with respect.
I have welcomed her back home for the time she needs to stay before moving out. She treats me as taking me for granted. Her room is dirty and a mess. She never cleans the bathroom or toilet, despite using it. Three times now, I‘ve had to call her out at having not flushed properly. At 62, I’m done with clearing up after my children’s poo! It’s not like I hadn’t set these boundaries when she asked if she could stay but it appears they’ve been conveniently forgotten and she has reverted to being a recalcitrant teenager.
I was really ill two weeks ago (had to take a week off work which I never do). Not once did she ask how I was feeling or offered to make even a cup of tea. I charge her for food and a contribution to fuel, internet, etc (£45/wk out of the £250 she earns). She is working far fewer hours than I do at 4 days a week because she wanted ‘work-life balance’. I wish!
Are 25 year olds still so selfishishly egocentric? I’m drained, exhausted and don’t want to live with someone who takes me so much for granted.
