22 year old autistic son wants me to choose a new winter coat for him

Want some recommendations for a new winter coat in either department and either adults or teens section as he is 5'2

He and I would both prefer it has one with a faux fur hood, also he doesn't mind if it doesn't look too adultish as he doesn't look his age either.

I'm aware of brands like mini Boden, next etc. Mainly shops that can ideally go up to an age 16 in the kids department would be great

So, can anyone recommend any decent winter coats with a fur hood for a good Christmas present as I've been struggling to find them this year?

Do you mean he’s 12? Zara is the best place to start.

I think she means he is 22 but small and young looking for his age exactly as she says in her OP.

My teen had a Zavetti Canada coat a couple of years ago. We bought it from JD Sports but other places sell them. They seem nice and warm
and have the fur hood. They come in teen and adult sizes.

@ApolloandDaphne Zara is still the best place then. They cut for slim men and teens. Mini Boden threw me.

Uniqlo usually sell good quality coats. They have a children’s section which caters to teen sizes as well, for a fraction of the “adult size” cost. They also have items of clothing which have special types of materials for heat regulation. I would recommend having a look on their website.

Ive found the Zavetti Canada jackets are perfect for winter, I bought all 3 of mine jackets from their website at the beginning of last year & each have said how warm & cosy they feel 😌 they’ve also just started wearing them again this year as it’s getting colder, here’s a link to their website however you can buy them in different places like JD Sports, Footasylum etc they’re a bit pricey but are definitely well worth the money 😌

Places like mountain warehouse all seem to have lots of fur lined hoods on winter coats.

Next is good for teen sizes.
I'm thinking of buying this from Next - eg. Monsoon Blue Mid Length Puffer Coat. With furry hood. £65

I don’t know what the male sizing is like but adult DD who is very petite/short got a nice fitting coat with a fur lined hood from hollister.

Abercrombie has a kids section which she sometimes shops from for cheaper basics too.

Check the size charts for kids and adults, in the women’s there’s often a bit of overlaps so might be the same for men’s.

thegenderfaerie · 13/10/2025 12:00

We don't mind if it's from the men or women's section or kids section either. We do like brands like mini Boden as he does tend to dress more younger etc

He's a gardener so generally works outdoors

And yes fur hood is a must, no exception

So have any of you generally opted for furry hoods for your lot

I’m confused about this post tbh. Who cares if others opted for furry hoods or not?

He’s 5’2, he’s not a toddler. You can easily go to your nearest Next or Zara and take it from there.
