What are your thoughts on a new girlfriend staying over, my 25 year old stepson first invited his gf over without checking with us, I addressed this with him and said he needs to respect that this is our house and should check with us first, the next time he did ask us first but I am wondering what blboundaries to set as I dont want her here during the week when we’re working or every weekend for that matter, her parents are strict so don’t think our son can stay there, what are you thoughts or experiences please?

I think if it's 25yo's home he should be allowed guests when he chooses, as long as they're all respectful.

DS1 is 24yo. GFs don't stay until they're established and he certainly doesn't bring a string if different women. He does ask, but I never say no. My only rule is I don't want to hear bedroom noises and I never have!

You can make whatever rules you like, if he doesn’t like them he can leave.
We let adult DSD have friends / partner round when she likes, she’s an adult and it’s her home too. But they're all lovely and it’s a pleasure having them here, if she took the piss or was disrespectful there would be rules.

Thanks guy’s, I think it’s because I dont know her very well and I felt a bit uncomfortable this morning , almost tip toeing around my own house, she seems very nice so hopefully this won’t last.

Does he live with you?

I would expect him to check with you before bringing any guest to the house, because that is just a normal, courteous thing to do when you're sharing a house with someone.

And I think it's ok to set some boundaries around when she can visit, but I wouldn't be too unreasonable about this. It's normal at 25 to want her to stay over pretty regularly. If you really aren't comfortable with it, maybe it's time that you ask him to look for his own place?
