Youngest DS moving out today. Feeling a bit emotional.

So I have 3 adult DC. DD and 2 DS's. My youngest DS is moving into his own house today. He's saved hard for his deposit and is excited. I've helped him set the house up, been with him to buy stuff for the house and I'm happy for him. I woke up early and just lay in bed thinking about it. Now DH is helping him move all his stuff out into the removal van I'm feeling a bit tearful. When my DD left for Uni she just never came back to live as she got a job there and stayed, married and bought a house there, 120 miles away. My eldest son left 2 years ago. He moved 150 miles away but I see him quite often as he sometimes has to work near me so he sleeps over about 1 day every 4-5 weeks. DS2 won't be far away and I know he will come home on Wednesdays for dinner with us most weeks as lasagne night. He's told me this. It will be strange not having him at home.

Yes it will be strange and yes it’s fine to have mixed feelings ( as long as you put on a brave face of course ). It sounds like you’ve done a great job, bringing up three kids who are able to get good jobs and become financially independent.

Now it’s a new stage of your life and you will have more time and money for yourself. What are your plans ?

Sending a hug. As AndyMcFlurry said, time for you and hubby to find a joint hobby or something? We were empty nest for 3 years while DD lived with her partner and then nearly 200 miles away for work so are currently adjusting to her living at home again. It does get easier, I promise. And as you said, he's planning on coming home one night a week.
