Isn’t that a rather sedate book festival? What do you think could happen?

determinedtomakethiswork · 14/07/2023 09:20

What do you think will happen? Are you worried in case they buy a book?

canpinkydance · 14/07/2023 09:27

That's a pretty tame festival. How old are they? Do they have SEN?

Hiphopopotamus · 14/07/2023 09:33

Is this real? How old are they?

LobsterCrab · 14/07/2023 09:34

How old?

cocksstrideintheevening · 14/07/2023 09:34

😂

Pixiedust49 · 14/07/2023 09:35

It was last month wasn’t it? So not until 2024 for the next one?

DurhamDurham · 14/07/2023 09:39

Just be thankful it's not Download or Leeds festival Grin we've been to the Book Festival and it's v sedate, and safe. Never ate so much cake as I did there.

Willmafrockfit · 14/07/2023 09:40

might they turn into a book worm?

I just like to know how people block the worries out about older kids.

That's run by Russel Brand. I think he's a dick, but the festival sounds pretty wholesome:

Community is about personal awakening and social change.

Russell Brand and friends are back in Hay-On-Wye for 3 days of camping, conversation on spirituality, wellness, healthy living and our environment.

Limber up for yoga or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, enjoy musical performances , relax with meditation and massage from a range of holistic healers on site.

Be inspired by the natural beauty of the area with a canoeing experience on the River Wye.

Profits from Community will go to our Stay Free Foundation which proudly supports people through recovery and addiction

You're joking me aren't you? If your 17 or 18 year old is going to Hay then the most dangerous thing that's going to happen to them is encountering some vaguely radical ideas! It's not Woodstock 99 ffs

YukoandHiro · 14/07/2023 13:05

Just saw your latest post - that one is literally a sort of straight edge yoga and spiritualism get together. There will be no dodgy drugs.. It might not be entirely your bag but it actually sounds like they're trying to sort themselves out and find some centre to their life which is a good thing.

What are you worried will happen at the weekend? Are you concerned about cults and things? I think this stuff is woo woo but totally benign.

At25 if there's no learning disability you have to just let them explore what makes them tick. You mention leaving jobs. Are they working now? Do they live with you?

A 19 year old isn't a kid. I think you need to learn to step back and leave your child to make their own mistakes and to get themselves out of trouble too.

Ok.I just don't want to say the gender for anomonity.
They always really worried my wife. They have had alot of difficulties with girlfriends, jobs.I'm not sure how much it effects her because she is tough but she treats them differently to my other three and I worry about her too .I know this doesn't sound good but I guess we should let them get on with it .
He'll probably have a great time.
