Hello

Please can anyone suggest how after years of being a reasonably happy family these past few months have been horrible to say the least.
My husband who my 3 he is stepdad to - has been for many years. He has made some unwise choices which have seen him lose the respect and trust of everyone within the family.
He has owned his mistakes he has apologised wholeheartedly and we want it to be like it was before.
I know it's not just about us and I know it'll take time. Can anyone relate at all?

Too vague. ‘Getting back together’- did you split up? What unwise choices?
It’s like the analogy when you say ‘smash a plate on the ground. Now say ‘sorry’. Is it fixed and back to normal?’ Why do your kids not respect or trust him, what did he do? Plenty of things there’s no coming back from.

'unwise choices' is too vague to give advice

He cheated on me and I found out. It all happened last year. We are separated but getting back together gradually. All of the children are adults and getting on with their own lives independently.

Why are you getting back with him? Of course your kids will think he’s trash. Of course he conveniently wants everything back to normal, god forbid choices have consequences 😄
Aim for better, raise your standards, don’t allow any man to make a mug of you.

It’s never going to be like it was before. He betrayed you and your kids won’t ever forgive him. Surprised you want to reform. It certainly won’t set a good example to your kids.
