I have 2 step children and 2 of my own
My husband was married before and I met his children age 13 and 9
They are in their 30s now the daughter has 2 kids which would be nice to call them my grandchildren if we don't see them I met the little girl twice she is 2 now
My own dad has 2 children and I get to see them often
It's very upsetting not being able to see my step grandchildren they will never know who I am
I post photos on Facebook of my grandkids and proud moments to share with family and friends
But my step daughter and son get moody and talk about me
I should've have to stop posting things cos of them

Sorry you've seen the child twice I. Two years and you think it's reasonable to post photos of her on SM when you've begun asked not to?

Do you understand the reason why they are unhappy and have you apologised?

AnneLovesGilbert · 09/04/2023 20:01

Why aren’t you allowed to see them? I’m assuming there’s been a big falling out you haven’t mentioned? Does your husband see her and her DC?

Xrays · 09/04/2023 20:01

What’s the backstory here? Why don’t they like you?

You shouldn’t be posting photos of anyone’s children without the parents permission.

AnneLovesGilbert · 09/04/2023 20:02

And obviously stop posting pix of kids you don’t have a relationship with on social media. That’s inevitably going to massively inflame an already tense situation. It’s also a bit weird.

I don't have any photos of their kids ( grandchildren)
I post my own photos of my daughter children ( grandchildren) their the only ones we get to see I would love to have them all together and make a fuss of them
I don't have any to apologise for ? I haven't done anything

I don't post any unless they say I can

Well something happened that means they’re not interested in a relationship with you. You might not know what it was but they will. Are you trying to see them? If so what’s their response? No? Ignoring you? Or are you waiting for them to initiate contact? You might get more help if you provide a bit more info.

IsolatedWilderness · 10/04/2023 10:04

Is their mother still around? Maybe they don't want you in a grandparent role or to give you that title?

TidyDancer · 10/04/2023 10:43

OP this is not making total sense. Do the stepchildren not get on with you? It seems that way from your post but I'm not 100% sure. If that's the case then it's likely they don't regard you in a grandparent role. If your relationship with them is more as their dad's wife then that would make sense.

Your stepchildren are one and two? I think you might be confused.

My step daughter and my daughter both sets of kids they for 2 each so I have 4 grandchildren they are all the same age and that is why I wanted them to play and do things with them at the same time which will never happen

Children aren't toys for you to play with or possessions to be "displayed" on social media. Your stepchildren might, therefore, feel uncomfortable with some of your views, and they have opted to keep their distance. It's their choice to make.

Her step daughters children are 1&2. Her step daughter is an adult.

TidyDancer · 10/04/2023 19:13

@greyhairnomore yep I get it, I'm still not totally sure the OP does though!
