So asked my other half to attend my daughters graduation later in the year. Straight away he said I can't get time off its the busy period. I said you are asking for one day not a week. Although he is not her father he has been in her life. I am deeply hurt and feel offended. Told him I would go by myself if that's the way it's going to be. Wouldn't mind he has not even bothered to ask for time off. I feel upset. Partner is thoughtless.

Does you dd want him there? To be fair it is up to her to issue the invite and not you. Does he feel that you want him there but not her?

I don't know what to think. My daughter will probably think it strange if he doesn't attend. At the end of the day I will be there as its a proud mum moment.

Have you discussed with DD? Do you know there’s a ticket for him? At my graduation (admittedly over a decade ago!) students only got two guest tickets, and then you could apply for others if there were spares but they weren’t guaranteed.

Will your daughter be bothered? Were they close? How long has he been in her life? Does she have contact with her father?

PritiPatelsMaker · 25/03/2023 09:58

How many tickets has she been allocated and who is she thinking of inviting?

Lovelyveg80 · 25/03/2023 12:52

I suspect radio silence from the Op to the question means her daughter doesn’t give a hoot whether he comes or not

Well that's all sorted. After a few discussions myself and my son will be attending my daughters graduation. They only allow 2 tickets but family and friends can stream it on live cast. Thanks for your replies.
