Contacted by a girl who has said my daughter used her photo on this site and contacted a boy pretending to be her saying inappropriate things. Has said she will go to police if doesn't get a written apology. She says my dd has taken it down and admitted it was her. Thoughts? ps i am aware this is wrong

If you give a written apology, it is likely the evidence she will use to sue your DD.

She contacted me I assume by looking up my dd friends list? My dd is 19. She said she has contacted me as a parent as she hasn't received an apology like she asked so felt the need to reach out to me

She said 'your daughter is an acquaintance of a friend of mine and that is how I was able to obtain your name'..the boy who the chat was with the girl says she doesn't know him personally just knows of him

Why would your daughter send her a written acknowledgment of guilt when the police will do absolutely nothing about it. I would be emailing the girl back and saying that actually DD is a grown adult so any quarrel between them should stay as such and the girl should do what she feels she needs to if she wants to take it further. You can acknowledge that catfishing is awful for all involved.

But, do speak to DD about how horrible it is if she has done it. Watch the TV show catfish if you want some insight or advice.

She will be wanting a written apology so she can take a photo and post it online - no doubt with the intention of shaming your daughter. The young uns these days rarely do anything without involving social media to share it.

Not a very good position to be in, your daughter will have learned a hard lesson here.

I have spoken to her and yes you are right this is what she wants a written apology to be screenshot and posted on facebook. She has been messaging dd multiple times and threatened to contact me...just wish I had known. I have explained to her this is not what smart girls do and she knows better. I expect a message from this girl..should I block her or if she does should I say stop harrassing me or I will take it further?

how old is your DD? Surely she should be dealing with this.
