Dressing Girls

Lurked here for ages

In posting this I will probably come across as old fashioned, but here goes. My question why is it becoming increasingly rare for girls to wear white socks? I was at a childrens party last Saturday and among the girls at the party, all under the age of ten, only mine wore white socks, At the first communion I attended a few weeks ago most girls had bare legs, while quite a few wore stockings a minority wore white socks.

I have twin girls aged seven, I like them to wear skirts or dresses and knee high white socks or ankle white socks when it is warm.

Got a letter from school today telling me that their winter uniform will now be gray socks

What the actual fuck? You force your 14 year old DD to wear knee high white socks? WHY WOULD YOU EVEN DO THAT?! Shock

EduCated · 29/03/2013 19:20

When will she be allowed to graduate from white socks? 16? 18? Ever? Confused

Right back at you retrorita, you couldn't let it lie.

Who checks the date of active threads anyway? Life is too short Wink

I do - when I realise I'm reading posts of people that haven't been seen since the mouldie debacle.

In my opinion, children should be dressed in clothing unique to their age, and not as small teenagers or adults. White socks are a staple of classic children's fashion, and my daughter (8) and two sons (6 and 11) often wear them for sports and at home (as well as summer school uniform for my daughter). On formal occasions, I dress my boys in matching nice shirts (usually white), short trouser suits, white socks, and classic T-bar leather shoes (usually navy), while their sister wears a beautiful smocked dress, white stockings and/or flounced socks, and traditional one-bar leather shoes (usually black patent).
