Someone once told me that as long as you've got a hand for each child, the family is just the right size. I think (being of my parents' generation) she was probably thinking of mum, dad and up to 4 children.

I'd love to have four .

am I mad?!!

Both!

Even with only two children, it would be useful to have a few extra hands at times!

PrettyCandles · 01/08/2005 15:16

Of course you are. But you can't rationalise the desire to have children. Mad, knackered, and happy.

PeachyClair · 01/08/2005 15:21

I have three boys, would like another child one day.

Mum one of four,
Dad one of 16

yes, SIXTEEN!

not having that many!!!

PrettyCandles · 01/08/2005 15:25

All the same mum?

PeachyClair · 01/08/2005 15:38

Same Mum, same dad, his Mum (my Grandma) was bed bound from number 8 (8 girls eight boys) so older daughters raised the youngest ones. Dad was number 15.

Mytwopenceworth · 01/08/2005 15:41

ive got 2, which is about 16 too many at times!!

PrettyCandles · 01/08/2005 15:44

Wow.

Imagine going through eight more pregnancies bed-bound. TBH, that sounds more awful to me than having so many in the first place.

A women on the street we used to live on had 14 but couldn't and wouldn't control em. The number of times I found her 2 year old ds wandering the street in just his nappy and took him home.
