...In a local cafe meet up for boisterous toddlers?

You see, I'm thinking about doing a regular thing in the back yard of a local cafe, which has woodchip and seesaws, and pushing toys etc.

I would make it on the same day at the same time every week, and there would be no charge, but you would have to buy something (tea?) from the cafe.

I would put posters up in town, at schools and stuff. The cafe doesn't sell posh food, it's strictly based on breakfast with added chips, and any variations of that, but it is quite cheap and child tolerant, and I think i could persuade the owner to go for this....

So, I toss it to the Court of Mumsnet. Would 6you^ go to something like this? Or will I be sat there on my own?

PS I don't mean will you, I mean if something similar was near you, would you go. IYSWIM.

me too! Theres a cafe like that near me called cafe junior, twinset, with fab foood, loads of wooden toys and books, a baby area, breastfeeding friendly and they do workshops and parties. Every time i go i think wish i had opened it - also been contemplating the idea for years!

trace2 · 31/07/2005 19:56

wish you lived near me, sounds a fab idea,

TwinSetAndPearls · 31/07/2005 20:34

Katylou, maybe I had better get a move on, before someone beats me to it then. Whereabouts are you? not sure it would work here.

My gorgeous cocker spaniel moved to Melton Mowbray
I think it's a great idea btw if the weather's fine

bubblerock · 31/07/2005 20:45

You should do it Twinset - I'd come along

PeachyClair · 31/07/2005 20:46

There IS one near us in Newport, I've not gone yet (new to area) but apparently it's very popular (it's on a Tusday), and really good.

Not sure of the name, but someone else might know? Think they have a website

TwinSetAndPearls · 31/07/2005 20:56

I wouldn't hvae a clue where to start.

Have had serious discussions about this with dp, who suggested that I started off doing catering from home to see if cooking and preparing food every day was my thing, to get a reputation and perhpas build up some capital.

mandyc66 · 31/07/2005 21:18

wonder if there is anything like this near me?!!!

colditz · 31/07/2005 21:19

Ahh, Mirage, i'm talking about The Glade, in Melton Town centre!

I had no idea that they had a play area out back! I haven't been in there for years, but have happy memories of the food there.I've never taken the kids in because it always looks crowded & it could be a bit of a nightmare with a double pushchair.

I'd definately be up for going to The Glade.

You have to go round the back of the hairdressers, and follow the path round.

Someone always nicks my business ideas. I always liked the idea of a family cafe with play areas, craft mornings, meet ups, baby clothes swaps local info boards etc, etc, etc.

Is their anywhere you can sell businees ideas I have loads but no start up money.

TwinSetAndPearls · 01/08/2005 00:47

tell me about it, I wanted to sell baby purees before everyone started doing it.

I have been trying to talk dp into the idea but he isn't interested and as he is the one who brings in the money there is no hope. But I will throw a brick though the window if anyone sets one up here!

Skribble · 01/08/2005 00:53

I have the brick through the window idea everytime i go into town and see the new party shop, the new gift shop, the new national schoolwear shop franchise.

I want a shop and i want it NOWWWWW!

Sorry about that

TwinSetAndPearls · 01/08/2005 01:13

My other one is a proper bookshop with a story teller and space to read books, perhaps attached to my cafe!
