One Life / Motherease: ordinary or with stay dry liner ?

hub2dee · 30/06/2005 22:27

We went to a Nappy Information Stand in Harrow the other week. (Thanks SB).

DW loved the One Life nappy as it was so soft and seemed nicely made.

  1. Is this 100% identical to 'motherease' (is it just a licensed / branded name by Team Lollipop)

  2. Anyone tried MEOS (ordinary) vs. MEOS (with stay dry liner) ? I think they add PUL liner to the whole nappy. Wondering if this is fab or too sweaty.

TIA for any comments.

SANDYS ARE LOVELY
KISSI ARE BEST

hub2dee · 03/07/2005 22:34

I haven't trawled throught the archives looking for Sandy's info... is the consensus that they are brill ?

Would all the 'one size' fans argue they are a waste of money and that the different sizing is a faff ?

New MEOS organic are soft and spongey like...babykind have just got them in.

I have used MEOS from 11 weeks to now (16 months) although have got some tots size 2 for better wee capacity in the night.

Have a few fuzzis and they are cool...just not as reliable on the leak side esp with newborn poo!

general concensus amongst fellow agents seems to be that tots size 1/bimbles/diddy diaper are all best for containment on a Newborn (you'll know what I mean soon just you wait for that first normal poo!) beyond that it's really about your laundry style and cuteness etc....

I'm a functional gal so have some bimbles for baby due in 5 weeks time but am sticking with my MEOS in the daytime and tots at night!! (might try a few organic meos myself as I haven't enough for two in nappies!!)

HTH

PS- hope all goes well this week hub

leahbump · 03/07/2005 22:47

PS- can't remember the costs between ME stay dry and normal...but a fleece liner will act as a stay dry on whichever nappy you decide on!! benefits of liner also include easy to remove poo post weaning!!

hub2dee · 03/07/2005 22:55

Hi leahbump, thanks for the good wishes for this week ! Life's about to change big time !

I think I will trial a selection and check out a MEOS organic unbleached, Sandy's, Tots, Fuzzis and mabe the bimbles or diddy you mention.

I also had quite a few e-mails with Erica who runs simonscustomcloth in the US. She is on holiday at the moment, but makes fab nappies, to the size of thigh / waist / rise etc. you need, and with lots of options on the fastening, soaker, materials etc. and that might be a fun way to remain super cute and get something that's really well fitted. Her links to all the custom nappy choice bits have been removed whilst she's away but she was incredibly flexible in her designs and very helpful too.

i am trying a MEOS on dd3 for the first time tonight. if u want to get ahead of your self and grab a bargain the ocado are doing large ME airflow wraps for £4.79 instead of 7.79.

if the MEOS holds out, then will let you know.

misdee · 03/07/2005 22:58

you have to check out wee notions

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 07:45

Typo in link fixed here

I can't believe you've never tried a MEOS, misdee !

It seems like half of cloth England use them !!!!!!!!

LOL

misdee - those wee notions bits look nice. They explain they use microfibre "a revolutionary new textile"... erm... is it just brushed cotton fleece - like the soft fluffy stuff inside an all-cotton sweatshirt ? (They say it is 5 times more absorbant than cotton etc. etc.).

When I was speaking to Erica of simsonscustomcloth she also said she makes nappies (or was it the lining ?) in a material called 'Sherpa' - I wonder if this is the same. (I hadn't heard of 'sherpa' before. She said it is an ULTRA-SOFT cotton, very fleece like... (at least I think that's what she said, IIRC...) - do correct if anyone knows different, or knows what the English for 'sherpa' is !

posting to myself here.

microfibre is the material some of those Magic Ultra Mega Cleaning Cloths are made of isn't it... looking closely at the photos on the Web site it looks kinda similar...

sherpa sleece3 is polyester brushed a lot.

the MEOS seems to have held out.

all icansay about micronfibre is the inserts i have are very absorbant, so cant wait till my wee notions show up.

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 08:25

If you post to yourself, does that mean you are crazy ?

LOL

misdee / anyone: Wee nations have a fleece lining to the inside of many of their nappies, and they mention that this means no disposable nappy liner paper thingy (or reusable fleece thingy) is required.

Would you suggest that although this fleece is nice and soft, and helps baby's skin stay dry that it is actually more convenient to use a flushable liner so you can get the brown stuff more easily to the loo ? I presume otherwise the nappy needs to get dipped or you need to whip out the hand-held shower thingy for a blast etc...

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 08:27

Hello !

Ah, so you know sherpa, misdee ? LOL Is it nice or does it make you yawn ?

Glad the MEOS worked for you. What's your first impression ?

When are your wee notions due for testing chez misdee ? (Will you e-mail / post what you think ?)

OP posts:
misdee · 04/07/2005 08:28

with breastfed baby poo, its will just go straight thro the paper liner anyway so dont worry., it washes off nappies really easily, only one of dd3 is stained, and thats a pink tots bots, the next sunny day it'll be going outside to get rid of the staining. i'd only really worry about liners once bubs is weaned onto solids.

misdee · 04/07/2005 08:30

i ordered another one last night, which will be here soo9n thant hew rest, as i had cleared funds in my paypal this time from selling on other nappies on ebay. so that one should be here this week. of course i'll tell you what i think lol.

sherpa is lovely and snuggly, makes u want to cuddle it up and go zzzzzzzzzz

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 08:31

OK. Understood about bf babies and the linings....

But what about on bigger babies / toddlers ? Despite a nappy having a fleece liner, I presume you'd still opt for a flushable (or reusable) liner, right ?

Anyway, how is stuff today re: Peter ? Have you guys spent a weekend discussing LVAD ? (hugs)

OP posts:
misdee · 04/07/2005 08:33

i always use fleece, paper liners irrtaed dd2, sensitive soul she is lol.

they threw something else at us yesterday. they dont feel he is strong enough to survive LVAD, so want to do a smaller op first to fit a tempory pump for 2-4 then the LVAD. will find out today, as they want todays blood results. the drugs arent working

misdee · 04/07/2005 08:34

meant to say, will be putting extra fleece liner on top, makes it easier to get rid of the poo.

hub2dee · 04/07/2005 08:43

Re: Peter - that sounds like a real downer, misdee. However, at least there is a route available ie. temp pump > LVAD > transplant incase going straight to transplant simply can't happen in a satisfactory timescale.

Today sounds like quite a big day then in his treatment stratgey for you guys. I hope it goes well. XXX

Today I'm prewashing your gifts to us. Thank you for thinking about us at a time that is so difficult for you. XXX

misdee, if (when ?) you need cheering up, look at these (three pages) and pick your fav and when I order something from them (next few weeks / month perhaps), I'll shout you a crazy nappy to add to your collection.
