No i think what you have done is fine. They were only trying to help you after all, and you have explained that it was wrong.

bless them. they obviously thought they were doing the right thing but in thw rong way IYKWIM. reassure them it'll be ok, and that the money has to be returned to their dad (however much of an arsewipe he is). tell them money isnt everything.

i would be PMSL but i know the moral of thestory wont get through.

i think an "i'm dissapointed in you because its wrong to steal" approach is in order, but at the same time, saying thank you for trying to help even if it was thr wrong way to do it!
