Any Afrikaans speakers in London?

Living in North London with husband and dd aged 19 months - dh is English and I am a boeremeisie from the Western Cape. I speak Afrikaans to dd and would love for her to hear more of the language, maybe meet some kids that speak Afrikaans too (I don't think she ever has!) Any other Afrikaans mums around?

Sibongile - try www.thebottomhalf.com - website for people from the 'bottomhalf' (Zim, SA, Australia, New Zealand etc etc) lots of people registered in the database - and forums too....

Hi Sibongile - we're the opposite, husband is Afrikaans and I'm English. Husband only speaks Afrikaans to DS but I'd really like him to mix with other Afrikaans kids too. We're just outside London.

Sibongile - sorry have been offline with flu/cold for a while now! We're in High Wycombe about 30+ miles outside London. DS is just over a year and a little monkey!

I am coming to U.K. early 2006 an my son is 9 years old. Our home language is Afrikaans. He speaks English very well but I am concerned about him having to go to English only schools, having to read, write and 'think' in English. Any help out there, I'd bee just too greatful ! ! ! Thanx!
