How long does your bedtime routine take?

i have 2 DC - one a baby, one a toddler and it takes from about 6 til 8 pm every night - i am surely doing something wrong here?

I always seem to be trying to get this back on track. It's supposed to be an hour and no more. One dd, nearly 4. Dh does bath/jammies/teeth/play upstairs from 7 pm then I do stories from 7.30 to 8. But it keeps sliding toward 9. It does actually work better when dhis away as I get through his bit a lot faster.

She does act up a great tragedy scene when I (try to) leave Sometimes I leave an audio CD/tape running if she really seems restless. Occaisionally she plays by her bed then puts herself back to bed.

I can't even begin to imagine a life where dd was in bed by 7!! Wow - what would I do with all that time....

i have ds1 2.5yrs and ds2 1yr. We do -
5/5.30 dinner
6pm bath (if not bath night then go up at 6.15 for wash and pjs on)
6.30 milk and stories
6.45ish bed

I have 1 DD - Nearly 12 months.

6pm - back from childminders and snack in kitchen (she's already had dinner at 5 with childminder)

6.15pm - bath if bath night (every other night) or else play in living room

6.30pm-ish - upstairs to change into sleepsuit

6.45pm - milk followed by story

7pm - bed / asleep

think light til late is not helping the cause either

Normally about an hour for us - DD almost 3 and DS 5

Bath together 6:30 (or just a wash if running late)
DD has 2 stories in DS's room (sometimes DS reads one to her which is cute)
DH puts DD to bed if he's about, or I bribe DS with an extra story to be quiet while I do it DD gets another song and made up story in her bed and gets to keep the door open if she's quiet! (mean but it works)
DS gets a chapter of famous five and a cuddle in his bed and bedtime is strictly fixed at 7:30 but he is a master of having a tummy ache/important something to tell me to string it out a bit!
