Beyond wiped out....

My wife gave birth to our first son one week ago today... she was discharged from the hospital and then readmitted for a kidney infection... she has been at home 2 days now.

She is utterly wiped out. She has stiff, crampy legs, a constant headache and feels lethargic and nauseous...

Has anyone heard of this kind of reaction before?

Hopefully she is absolutely fine and they just haven't been on MN because they're enjoying their new baby......

DadToTwo · 06/04/2009 23:21

I feel uncomfortable not knowing what's happening, but am hoping that you have the answer, BiscuitStuffer

Hello, I am the partner of Noahs Dad... thank you so much for all your advice... sorry we have not responded but I ended up in hospital with a deep set infection...
The last ten days have been a bit of a roller coaster ride, with them wanting to remove my appendix at one point before deciding it was an e-coli infection that had become so deep set it was not responding to the antibiotics they were giving me.
Am still in hospital but feeling much better thankfully... hopefully I will be allowed to go home tomorrow... fingers crossed.
The three of us just want to go home and start all over again!
MsBump and NoahsDad. xx

MsBump · 08/04/2009 12:12

Can I just also add thank you for your concern... its so nice to know there is a great community out there for new parents....

flightattendant19 · 08/04/2009 13:33

Oh phew...so glad you are on the mend, it sounds horrid and I'm really sorry you've been so ill

Thanks for letting everyone know, I think there will be a few sighs of relief reading this

Get well soon pet and hope you get to enjoy being a mum very quickly xx

DadToTwo · 08/04/2009 15:47

So glad to hear from you, MsBump.

I hope the anitbiotics they're giving you get rid of your infection and you manage to get home asap

DadToTwo · 08/04/2009 16:14

One thought; I'm sure you have the best doctors, but not all are always familiar with puerperal sepsis. Do ask them to rule it out with certainty.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 08/04/2009 18:12

I'm so pleased they are getting you sorted and you are on the mend. As DadToTwo says, they are not normally on the ball with sepsis as it's an old condition and isn't the first thought for them. The antibiotics may be strong enough to keep it at bay but if they are notstrong enough then it may return.

I'm so pleased you are getting treatment. We were worried there for a while. Thankyou for keeping us up to date.

Enjoy your new baby.

MrsGokWan · 08/04/2009 18:18
