Where is the safer place for DD to travel in the car?

She is 9 years old and 137 cm. Atm she has a highback and booster in the back row of our Zafira. Things will need re-jigging soon as we are axpecting DC5.

The options for her are middle seat in middle row with lap and diagonal belt and no booster. Or, front seat with highback booster with passenger airbag.

Which would you prefer for your DC?

why can't you fit the booster into the middle at the back?

DD3 is in middle row in a Britax first class. Baby will be in the same row in an infant seat. I don't think there'll be enough width

I can get an infant seat and a stage 2 car seat in the back row with a booster pad for dD1 in our grand scenic and I don't think its any bigger than a zafira

its a bit of a PITA getting the seatbelts on but we do manage - have you tried it out?

No, haven't got an infant seat atm. It might at a pinch. The grands cenic has individual seats in middle row, doesn't it? Zafira is a bench. (I hate it!)

ah right, I thought it had the same set up as the renault sorry

ceolas · 10/03/2009 22:26

No worries. I'd love to get something bigger, but looks like I'll have to tolerate the hunk of junk for about 6 months after baby arrives! Try getting a double buggy in there too.

Think I might give up driving altogether.

either that or you need a roof box that they can lie in when you go anywhere

PurpleCrazyHorse · 11/03/2009 11:46

Can you turn the passenger airbag off if you're worried about it?

KateF · 11/03/2009 11:51

I am about to move my 9 yr old to the front seat as she is just too big to squash between two boosters in the back seat. I only have a Peugeot 206 though! I used to fit two children and a double buggy in a Mini

ceolas · 11/03/2009 12:24

No, the airbag can't be switched off.

at 137cm she can legally travel without a booster/car seat. The law is up to 135cm OR the age of 12. I would keep your lo in the back if at all possible.

jocie · 11/03/2009 15:45

Halfords do this strap thing thta moves the shouldre strap away from neck to the right position so if she's old enough to not need a booster she could just sit in the back with this seatbelt adjuster thing. Hang on a min i'll see if i can do a link.( hope it works, my 1st one!)here

wayhay it works.
