They turned out fabulously, I thought the labels and 'tots bots' tag would be buggered but they just look normal.

I love em!

I even dyed a yellow onne and a green one to see if it would take and I can't tell which ones they were over the previously white ones!

I think I'll have to do the rest of the rainbow ones now

lush!

was going to ask if it was deliberate but it clearly was!! what a good idea!!

EnchantedWithEdwardCullen · 07/10/2008 19:48

Lol, yes.

I used dylon washing machine dye.

They are 2nd hand so were a bit grey so i thought I'd try this,

I'll put a pic of them on my profile in a bit

You should do it!

a £4.99 dye does 6 nappies 'officially' but id say you could do 10 easily with one dye, maybe 12.

nice idea.

i might do this as my size 2s are very grey and need to do my 3rd child too...

Flamebat · 07/10/2008 19:54

EnchantedWithEdwardCullen · 07/10/2008 19:59

  • My DD1 would love that colour!

They look really good.

MatNanPlus · 07/10/2008 20:57

Fabulous.

Flamebat · 07/10/2008 21:30

were there 5 rainbows originally?

EnchantedWithEdwardCullen · 07/10/2008 21:32

No 2 were rainbows, 1 green, one orange.

Dunno which they are though, rest were white.

ooh odd - some seem to have mroe polyester in em than others

blithedance · 07/10/2008 21:57

That reminds me of a lovely picture I saw where someone had dyed her Motherease nappies all the colours of the rainbow. They just looked brilliant and I bet it covered up those unshiftable stains.

Flamebat · 07/10/2008 22:37

I was always really proud of this set - nappies and top dyed to match the wool for the trousers

EnchantedWithEdwardCullen · 08/10/2008 09:19

Actually flame you are right!

was going to just do 2 but then threw the other orange ones in!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/10/2008 10:43

nappies look great EWEC; I've got some green and yellow rainbow bots so might give it a go with them just for the fun of it. I just died some of DDs pink muslins a lovely bright blue for the new baby. They look pretty good too.

Flame, oh nappy dyeing expert, what would happen with fleece lined nappies like bimbles? would the fleece stay white, or go a fetching shade of grey?

LackaDAISYcal · 08/10/2008 10:44

oh, and I might be able to do something with the knitted longies. I was thinking of doing some for the DCs, and am researching the best yarns and where to get them at the minute.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/10/2008 10:46

are the longies hand or machine knitted flame?

BlueChampagne · 08/10/2008 13:06

Sounds cool - bet colour-coding by family would help nurseries/child minders too. Am planning to do DS's vests etc as white is so dull & impractical.

Flamebat · 08/10/2008 13:25

hand knitted
