My boys started ballet at 10 and 6 and only gave up when DS1 went to Uni. They did exams and shows. Luckily our dance school had loads of boys and they were always treated better than the girls

boy has just started at a tots ballet class. he is only boy in class. on week 2 one little pink child said " boys can;t do ballet". Boy is tall for his age and has lots o energy. I think ballet might help him with control, suppleness and doing what he is asked to do in a group setting.
He is going to ballet (rather than soccer tots or gym club.)because its something he can do with one of his mates (a girl who was keen to do ballet) now she is at preschool and they don't see each other at toddler group any more.

we were very close to sending DS to modern/break dancing when he was younger as he loved dancing when music came on and seemed quite good at it. We were put off by the lack of boys in the classes though.

Started age 16 as a way to met girls!

DS1 did ballet for a whil when he was 3-4. He really liked it

You have to be really strong to be a dancer. And they'll get great bodies too with all that hard work. The girls will love them.

Mine did (5) irish dancing for a few terms, but then he got sick of a girl same age telling him he was rubbish and stupid

soo.. he decided on singing club (but the age range has changed and can't start until Yr2) 'interestingly' the girl left class too and wanted to join singing too.

He really enjoyed it, found it tricky but he found it fun.

My DS1 does Highland dancing, he loves it, he's been going for about 3 years now. No one has a go at him about it as he's always done it.

A few people made comments about boy dancing gay etc, i pointed out i'd prefer a gay son than an ignorant one.

My daughter did ballet from the age of four. In her class was a young boy and he went on to become a brilliant dancer. He now attends one of the most prestegious ballet schools in the country.

Good news for him was that his physic was absolutely fantastic and the girls absolutely loved him. More than one wanted to go out with him!!!

He was a joy to watch perform actually and always received huge applause from any show they were in.

My 10 year old son has been attending ballet lessons for the past 2 years.I sent him because I wanted him to learn to dance and also to channel some of his hyper energy. He disliked ballet at first but now loves it.He is also the only boy learning ballet in a class of over 2 girls.Ballet has improved his confidence and he dosent even mind having to wear a pair of black tights in class anymore!
