you are a massive help Lou. In all seriousness I would be grateful if I can 'cry out'! for you on here for a bit of help once I get it all up and running. You appear to be able to put into logical context what I am trying to do.

Absolutely no problem, will keep an eye out

FairLadyRantALot · 28/09/2008 11:03

btw. what is a literature review? Is it where you write about other peoples written work about a certain topic and their findings?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

It's a little more involved than that, Fairlady. It is basically gathering all the literature surrounding a subject, then reviewing it - What arguments are used, who says what & why, strengths/weaknesses of research, etc. Then going on to identify 'holes' in the current body of literature, and so on.

Hiya no advice, finished uni 2 years ago and that part of my brain has mushed, but good luck

FairLadyRantALot · 29/09/2008 12:43

lou, that sounds mindboggeling....sigh...but I suppose no point me freaking out about this , just yet....only just starting my first year (OT)... but on the other hand I can't help to freak out already....because I know it will be coming around one day for me...sigh...shudder...sigh some more..

lou031205 · 29/09/2008 19:51

Fairlady what you have to remember is that by the time you get around to doing a dissertation, you generally have a background knowledge from your earlier Uni studies, and will have been writing essays until then. You soon pick up the methods of using one writer to pick holes in another - it's good fun, really!

Lou- tell me to naff off if you think that I am getting too needy/familiar- would I be able to contact you via email if I need some advice? Im probably going to suspend my reg on here as I lack willpower and always end up on here instead of my assignments.

no probs if its too much!!

No problem tiredemma. If you email me at lou031205 at googlemail dot com, I will give you my real email address, so that you can email me (my real address uses my real name, so would rather not post on here).

I did think of a 4th angle, which would be "childbirth as therapy"ish. So, women who use their pregnancy as an opportunity to put right the elements of their previous experience by empowering themselves in some way to regain their perceived loss of control. i.e Doula, Independent Midwife, reading books, internet research - a bit like CBT in nature, because they are facing their experience and moving on by confronting it rather than avoiding it.
