New invention - Adult Head Support for Cot - would you buy it?

OK, it doesn't actually exist (as far as I know). I have had a genius idea but don't think I'll make it on to Dragons' Den - maybe just MN for now...

I have just returned from my baby's cot where I shushed him to sleep. 150 shushes accompanied by hand on chest and followed by gentle removal of dummy, then more shushes. Not too bad, really, but still rather tiring. 300 or more shushes have been required in the past.

What is needed, I think, is an ADULT HEAD SUPPORT which would attach to the side of the cot. It would be a sort of curved structure, padded, of course, about two inches wide, and you'd just sort of slot your tired head into it for a little rest while shushing your baby. It could have cool gel optional inserts for when you have a headache, or maybe calming scented lavender bag inserts, etc. It could even have a slot for headphones?I Pod attachment so you could listen to some gentle Brahms etc, or perhaps even an audiobook, while shushing. Maybe a drinks holder too..for a nice G&T..with straw attachment..or perhaps that is going a bit far?

Only thing is, I bet no-one would buy it, at least not in advance, because none of us realised in advance (or want to admit in public now??) that we would have to spend hours trying to persuade our babies to go to sleep...

Anyway, any takers? Would you buy it, for a reasonable price?

Very funny idea, but no I wouldn't buy one.

starkadder · 04/09/2008 19:19

why not, Trafficcone? Would it be in case your friends came round and asked "what IS that hideous contraption on your baby's cot??" Because I was also thinking, it could be cunningly disguised as a mobile holder or something...All we'd have to do is make it yellow and paint giraffes on it.

Or maybe you are lucky and have an easy sleeper

Why not a waxwork adult head? A true likeness of the main carer with a velcro ear (for fastening to the side of the cot or placing in the cot) and an inbuilt voice recorder that says shuuuuuuush in the carer's actual voice.

starkadder · 04/09/2008 19:29

Excellent plan Swedes! I'd buy that for a dollar.

If we teamed up with the makers of Baby Annabelle I'm sure they could make the wax head weep and say "Shhhhhh" silmulteously.

starkadder · 04/09/2008 19:42

Yep, we need it to do that for authenticity.

d'you know what, I've had a hideous day but this thread has cheered me up no end in spite of the fact that my kids have passed this stage..... or maybe it's BECAUSE of the fact that they've passed this stage

ladytophamhatt · 04/09/2008 21:29

Tis a good idea but why do you remove the dummy?

starkadder · 05/09/2008 10:23

Yeah that's it! hahahahaaha one day he will go to sleep on his own...

I didn't want him to get addicted to sleeping with it in his mouth. No idea if this is rational or not!
