Just to say be careful with rear facing car seats

...as we have had several near misses lately with our Concorde Ultimax.

It's a good seat and all that, but Ds2 started to stick his little foot in the area where the door closes. I have had to be very very careful not to slam the door on his foot

I put it back where it should be but he just quickly points it at me again.

So I have reluctantly had to put him forward facing at 14 months...

I guess he might have stopped doing it but I could not take the risk.

He already got hit by the Skyride yesterday, Ds1 was swinging really high and couldn't stop when baby crawled towards it...that was pretty bad

Thanks for the warning. We've just got an Ultimax for DS2 and I really like it, but he's only 6 months old. I'll try to remember about this for when he's bigger.

14 months is ok to go forward facing though. DS1 was 10 months because I didn't like our Jane Matriix sitting up (great flat though).

Glad if it helps Pigeonpie, watch the shoulder straps too - Ds easily wriggles out of them as they're so far apart. I have put him in the Britax now which is narrower

You can get a little device to clip the straps together I think. I don't like to see him being held only by his nether regions!!

Thanks for reassurance too - we had an Auto carrycot which I really liked, keeping that for next baby!

Fanlight I wanted one of those clip things for the harness of the pushchair but I lost the link do you know where I can get it from? My dd gets out of the buggy straps and stands up but the wont go any tighter. at m & p stupid harness

Hiya SM, there are several links on google but nearly all in America - it's by Sunshine Kids and is called a 'locktite'. Apparently it isn't meant for car seats because of the need to release child quickly in an accidnet, but you should be Ok in a buggy - sorry I can't find a UK supplier atm, will look more later

Thanks for the warning about the shoulder straps too. DS2 is a fairly chunky chap (I've said that he's going to be a 'prop' whereas DS1 will be a 'fly'!) and he's already broader than DS1 was at the same age and as we'll be going into winter soon he'll be wearing more layers, so I hope that we won't have that problem till next spring/summer.

DS1 escaped from his shoulder straps when he'd grown and they needed adjusting (he has a Maxi Cosi Priori) which was quite frightening, but at least we were only going down an A Road - one of his friends did it when they were driving down the M1.

I do really like the Ultimax though and DS2 seems very comfortable in it.
