Newborns: sometimes i wonder if it's worth him wearing a nappy, am i doing something wrong

OK, i can't remember whether it was like this with DD, i have a feeling not. the point is: DS's nappy leaks like mad. during his naps, wee escapes in copious quantities i THINK up over the sides/back of the nappy and i'm forever changing his attire/ moses basket sheets etc. it's especially not fun in the middle of the night.

i'm using huggies, the right size for his weight, and i seem to be tightening the tabs fine around the waist. huggies were always fine (as far as i can remember) with DD. i always put a dry one on before he naps, it's not simply due to slovenliness.

are boys just like this, is it a newborn thing, has anyone any tips?

how starnge my ds has never weed on me duringa nappy change but dd used to wee all over the changing mat all the time....

Plus I find Huggies leak, prefer Pampers or Tesco ones.

Bakedpotato - I used to puy one of the small pampers caremats under DS when he was in the cot - much easier to change in the middle of the night!

Hi,
we used Boots nappies, and Pampers newborn for our teeny weeny (5lbs8oz) baby and they leaked too. We now use cloth nappies (Cotton Bottoms) and they are excellent and last far longer than any disposable we have tried.
Apparently, Tots Bots terry fitted nappies are good for nights and are easy to put on?

I had the same problem with my son, it drove me mad forever washing sheets and changing clothes!
I found huggies to be a awful fit on him. In the end i swapped to washables, it took a while to get the right fit, but he is still in them now at 20 months old.
We use ellas house, Green baby co. and motherease sandys. When he was really little we used imse vimse. The washables take a while to get used to but are great in the long run.
I am now having fun starting potty training with him!!

we had this trouble even though the nappies were right size (on the packet). i switched to the bigger size and it was ok after that.

never ever got on with Huggies. For ds, Boots were the best, and for dd, Pampers Active fit.

Yep, had exactly the same thing with DS until he was big enough for size 1. I don't know if it's a boy thing, but DS's willy had to be exactly facing down or there was pee everywhere!

Is he tall with skinny legs?

Could your try padding the nappy out with a bit of fleece? Ikea sells thin fleece blankets for bugger all.
