anyone got a mothercare urban detour 3 wheeler?

Just wanted to know if they are heavy, and if they are massive when folded?! I've only got a Renault Modus and it would have to fit in the boot of that!

They are heavy-ish to lift into a car, yes. But the size when folded is reasonable, especially since the 2 rear wheels come off really easily. I love mine!

Can you not go to Mothercare and see if one fits into your boot?

I have an old-style one and while I loved it very much and it was easy to push etc I very rarely put it in the car because it was so heavy. I had a lightweight pushchair if I needed to use the car and very rarely even folded the UD. I have an estate car so there was no problem with it fitting in the boot, but it is very large when folded.

I could go to Mothercare i guess, i think i'll measure the buggy i've got, and then compare it in the shop with the UD. It's just i've read some reviews that they're really heavy and cumbersome and yet when i tried one in the shop, it seemed huge yet very light to push!

They are fab to push, even with a heavy toddler. I think it has very good suspension and free-moving wheels so it doesn't take much effort to start it off and then once you're moving it floats over uneven and pot-holed surfaces. The balance is good too, so it isn't an arm-wrenching effort to lift the front wheel to mount the kerb.

I used to have one and though a bit on the heavy side and quite large (what decent double isnt) it was fantastic to use.

It fits in the boot of my Polo ok, tho a bit heavy to lift. Great pram like the others said.

I have the newest one (bought second hand).

It is quite heavy but then I guess that could suggest it is strong and well made. Folds down well I think. It is v manouverable around shops, fits through doorways easily and can cope with rough tracks and the beach - this is why I bought it.

If you buy second hand make sure you get all the extras as they are expensive to buy separately. The raincover is really good (tested it out well today ) - I believe a lot of the non-branded '3 wheeler' raincovers don't fit it very well so make sure you get the specific urban detour one. The outlook shade-a-bebe fits it well though.

I think this buggy is fab!! But I don't drive though. We have managed to fit it into the back of my dads alfa romeo.

It is very wide but a dream to push.The shopping baskets are bigger than they look. Seat V comfy for a newborn and wide enough for toddler.

A tip though if you do buy it get a spare inner tube for tyre (takes 28 days to order) when you buy it. We had puncture last week. But ours is used at least 3 times a day. Can repair wheel with bike repair kit too.

Also would measure your front door, gate etc. Off the top of my head think it is 86 cms wide when upright.(Might have made that up!!)

I cannot rave enough about this pushchair, can you tell!!

i've got one - is very easy to push and ds loves it but it IS heavy to lift in and out of boot (we have landrover and it goes easily in that but a truck would go easily in that) and also quite wide to negotiate in shops etc. after three months i ended up buying a mclaren which i use most of the time and certainly for any trip involving bus/tube/train/goingup and down steps/any lifting. if you do have an urban detour you will almost certainly end up buying another light pushchair so factor that into the price!

Yes we have one that we used to use for country walks. Like woodstock3 says I wouldn't have it if it is going to be your only pushchair, also I ended up with a csection and couldn't lift it for about 10 weeks, but is good for rugged terrain

I love mine. I have a rover 214 and it fits easily in the boot without taking the wheels off.
We got it 3.5 years ago and used it for both children. Its really good for bigger/taller children. The shopping basket is faaaaaaantastically big - so I didn't often need to put it in the car I could walk to shops and back.
Ours goes through the doors of our small terraced house easily.
They are big and bulky when folded - compared to the newer trendy prams. But those new trendy prams imo would never stand up to a walk in the country!
Sparklygothcat is having mine as soon as she is up my neck of the woods
If I was having any more kids I would def keep it.

You can get punctures fixed in bike shops, and bike shops have the inner tubes that you can buy over the counter which they will fit for you.

They go on ebay now for peanuts as the fashions have changed.

I really like mine as well (and it fits in our peugot 306 which isn't large). It is a bit on the heavy side to lift, but it's really comfortable and has seen us through 2 DCs (we have a very cheap second hand one as well for going on trains etc).

mine fits in a toyota Yaris boot
I take one of the back wheels off, which is a really easy one-clip thing to do and then it doesn't bump on the back window. I luuuurvvvve my urban detour

It is very bulky and heavy, we have a citroen picasso. I'm sure mothercare would let you try it out in your boot.

Otherwise it is the bext thing we bought for DS. We walk to town everyday and it is very easy to push and steer round the supermarket. I love it more than is healthy to love a pushchair .

get a spare inner tube, the slime stuff to put in the tube and a puncture repair kit.

One thing I DONT like is that the seat never seems to go very upright.

Even at its most upright position it is still quite reclined. DD2 didn't like it for that reason as she was used to being very upright in her previous pushchair (it made it easier for her to pull things off shelves you see ).

Has anyone else noticed this?

My friend gave me one and I used it when dd was born and it is now our 2nd pram at the grandparents. It is heavy - but it got into the boot of a VW Golf - and I was lifting it in 4 weeks post c-section.

It was great to push and you could bump up kerbs with ease.
