Removal of nasal polyps, adenoids and tonsils - makes a difference?

Hi all, DS (6) is scheduled for surgery - removing nasal polyps, adenoids (grade 2/3) and tonsils, also unblocking one ear. Has anyone's kids had this done and can you say if it made a big difference? I'm thinking about concentration, energy levels, mood, etc. Thanks a lot!!

My DD had adenoids and tonsils removed aged 5. She went from a grayish/pale looking, quiet child to one that was rosy cheeked and running around the playground with friends. She slept better, she ate better, she had a zest for life.

I thought she was doing okay before the op. Having the op made me realise she was surviving and not living. Tbh it was quite a shock at the difference.

I have two bits of advice for after the op. No fruit or fruit juice for at least a fortnight, it's like drinking acid. And full painkillers of paracetamol and ibuprofen for a minimum of a week before reducing. It seems the pain doesn't reduce enough until the scabs fall off. DD went from full amount to just one dose at bedtime after they disappeared.

My dd had this done when she was 4yo, it is quite a tough operation so definitely keep the couple of weeks post surgery quiet. Lots of telly, letting them eat and drink what they want etc.

It definitely made a difference, dds sleep improved and she had less chest infections.

Thanks so much for the feedback, it's so good to know that the operations were worthwhile and made a difference!
