Toys in 3 1/2 year olds bedroom

A random question, but do you have toys in your 3 1/2 year olds bedroom?

We don't have many at the moment (2 or 3 small things they can play with if they are up early). I worry that if we put lots of toys in, it becomes a room for play rather than a room for sleep. They are only in there at bedtime and wake up time...

Interested to know what others do, and what age they start putting toys in their room

Thanks!

We have toys in every room unfortunately

No toys in our 3.5yr bedroom. 6 year old just has his Lego in his bedroom so the younger one doesn't destroy it. Bedroom for sleep or reading

My 5 and 3 year olds share and they only have their cuddlies in there. All the toys are in our lounge. They can take them up to play in the day if they want to.

No toys just loads of books in our 3.5 year olds room. At least 200 odd

We have quiet toys in there, mostly puzzles and letter/number magnets, as well as lots of books. And lots of soft toys! I agree with the above poster that it’s good to keep the room for rest/sleep. My little boy would be out of bed in the night playing if there was anything too exciting in there!

Mine had toys in their rooms as toddlers, but never tried to play with them in the night/early mornings etc.

Very limited toys in our toddlers' bedroom some cuddly teddies and a few puzzles, nothing that can get them too excited

BigBadPotato · 10/10/2026 22:45

Books and soft toys only… and my god do we have a lot of books, there’s no space for toys 😅 I think there’s a lot to be said for keeping a peaceful quiet space for sleep, personally

Nope, hardly any. Books and soft toys and just the odd thing he takes up (currently a bus). He already drags the arse out of bedtime don't need more distractions.

Yes we are in the books and soft toys camp too, the eldest reads them insatiably before going to sleep and the youngest doesn't seem to touch them.
We actually have a long standing rule of no toys upstairs because it's such a hassle when they leave them all over downstairs let alone upstairs too. That may change one day but it stands for now
