What to give a child of 19 months who's constipated?

Have been giving my child weetabix, baked beans and trying grapes to no avail.

Taking her to doctors tonight about the problem, anyone got any good ideas on what I can feed her as she is in great ain.

Also any movements I can help her with to dispense of the poo!

Thanks

I think watered down prune juice or orange juice should help with constipation!

Orange juice worked a treat with my ds when he was constipated. Or try dried fruit such as apricots.

A nice ripe banana and stacks of water.

pure orange or apple juice works really well but only a small amount (half a glass max) as it can go a bit OTT and cause cramps and the runs! add that to LOTS of water (in this heat a sip every few minutes) and you should hopefully see a difference.

tummy massage helps too - start at belly button and rub in clockwise circular motion firmly but not hard gettign bigger circles as you go out.

hope she is better soon.x

Mashed banana and kiwi fruit; fig syrup works too if you can get them to drink it (not sure if there is a lower age limit though)

you can buy glycerol suppositories from Boots. If they don't have the infant 1g, get the child 2g size and cut in half.

DS2 tends to be a bit bungy and yesterday had gone 7 days w/o a poo (in retrospect, we left it waaaay too long). He pooed within 30 mins of the suppository, but he was in a huge amount of pain. Bit of blood passed, but he's better today. still straining a lot, but I suspect he's still offloading last week's poop!

Nothing worked with my dd until she ate a whole punnet of raspberries... and THEN....!
