it may be too early for some of you but what are we getting our babies for Xmas mine will be 3 months in December and I have no idea what to get her most toys are 6months plus.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

To be honest I don’t think your baby will have too much of an opinion on what they receive from Santa this year.

Save your money and put towards next year.

MushroomQueen · 04/10/2026 17:01

Some black and white books - you can show over a few months

TheLette · 04/10/2026 17:05

Get something small the baby can use now and if you insist on thinking that a bigger gift is necessary, get a quality toy that the baby will be ready for at 6 months and some outfits for the next stage. A teether toy would be good for the 4 month stage, so maybe that. A token gift and whatever you can afford in a S&S ISA would be the most sensible thing tbh (this is what I did when my eldest was 3.5 months at Christmas one year). The baby won't care, they will be asleep/feeding.

Ask people for money instead and buy them some Premium Bonds, or save it for them some other way, until they need / want it.

Hathead18 · 05/10/2026 06:50

I’d get a couple of books - ‘That’s not my…’ or ‘Where’s Mr…’ are good interactive ones that you can use straight away but they’ll also like them for ages.
Wouldn’t worry about really getting them anything more. They’ll probably enjoy the sound and feel of the wrapping paper more than any actual presents at this age.

ParentJourneyPK · 05/10/2026 10:34

At 3 months, I’d probably go for things that will actually get used rather than lots of toys. Muslins, books, cute but practical clothes, bibs and bath towels are always useful. A little gift set can be nice too — SuperBottoms has newborn gift sets with things like a swaddle, bib, wipes, booties and nappies, which could be a practical option if you want something more than just clothes.

3 months? They really won’t notice. Save your dosh. Or save it for them.

Ilovemum · 05/10/2026 10:54

When mine was 4 months old- we bought high chair, bibs, weaning bits... (Basically the stuff we needed to buy anyway)....
As well as a couple of Lamaze type toys and a couple of toys to stick on the high chair tray- she liked the baby Einstein ones.....

Put the money in a S&S ISA

Needmorelego · 05/10/2026 11:01

My First Christmas tree decoration.
Cute Christmas onesie (get 2 because guarantee of poo/puke before you've even taken a photo)
A stocking that will be theirs forever (you don't have to put anything in it - just display it for this year)

WindyTimes74482 · 05/10/2026 11:05

At that age, I'd buy stuff for myself to treat myself for surviving the newborn trenches and some cute outfits for the baby so we can take nice photos

Whoops75 · 05/10/2026 11:11

I would get a book or picture for their bedroom and put a babies first Christmas inscription on it.

Buy yourself something extra nice as you did all the work.

caringcarer · 05/10/2026 11:13

I'd buy Babies First Xmas bauble, 3 books, a ring stacker toy, a new outfit and put money into ISA for them. Honestly they won't know it's Xmas. Unless you have older DC who will ask why has baby not got presents id buy minimal this year.

Betterversionofme · 05/10/2026 11:22

Less tired and stressed mummy, by not worrying about presents, getting none, and absolutely, definitely not hosting anyone who is not incredibly considerate of a fact that a whole human came out of me and I didn't sleep properly in months.

Jk987 · 05/10/2026 11:23

They only want you, milk and cuddles. Get them some cute clothes and a rattle if needed, spend the rest on a treat for yourself.

ThatMintMember · 05/10/2026 12:04

My son was 4 months old on his first xmas and I got him a bath book, stacking cups, a textured book, pram toy, some ducks for the bath. All got used within his first year. Other people got him highchair toys, activity table, pop up toy, a water mat, clothes etc.

Just pick stuff they'll need in the next few months/year.

FusionChefGeoff · 05/10/2026 12:33

For my baby DD I got sentimental gifts - so a beautiful hard backed copy of my favourite books from childhood and wooden dolls house for play later

JC89 · 05/10/2026 13:04

I wouldn't get too caught up on it being something they can use from Christmas Day, especially if you have lots of family asking you what they can get - 6 months will roll around quickly so don't let it put you off if toys are 6 months plus! Wrist rattles were good when they were tiny though? And never too early to start a book collection! Also like the idea of keepsakes.
