Breastfeeding struggles at four weeks with possible tongue tie

Wondering if anyone else is having similar struggles to me? I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy 4 weeks ago. Think he might have a slight tongue tie so going to see someone next week about that and if he has, they’ll snip it. Breastfeeding has been a real struggle. He screams every time I offer the breast and sometimes refuses to latch at all. Even when he does latch, he’s never satisfied after feeds so I need to top him up with expressed milk. Want to be able to breastfeed but the way things are going, I also feel like stopping for my own sanity. Weight gain has been good and he’s otherwise alert and taking everything in. Fed up of every feed feeling like a struggle and fed up of the sound of the breast pump! Any thoughts?

If pumping is the bit you hate, top up with formula? You've done a lot of hard yards already with getting BF going. It normally gets easier from now!

Are there breast feeding support groups near you? When ds3 was born he was a terrible feeder. At about ten weeks I went to the local breastfeeding support ladies one morning. They took one look in his mouth and that afternoon I was in ENT at the local hospital getting in snipped. They had an arrangement with a local ENT who was very pro breastfeeding and would start clinics early/stay late to see women and their babies. It fixed everything for us.

If you hate pumping you can top up with formula, just make it workable for you now, you can always phase out the formula in the future.
i found mine screamed when they’d got over hungry before I offered, then the frustration of us trying to figure out the latch seemed to make them really angry. I used the huckleberry app to track and then start suggesting feeds a bit earlier.
it is normal for babies to cluster feed and not seem satisfied around this age. If he’s gaining weight, peeing and pooping then technically he’s getting enough, the rest is fussing to feed more for bigger growth spurts and to encourage milk production. It’s normal rather than because you’re doing anything wrong. Instead of pumping can you just shove him back on you? What does he do then? If he’ll happily keep feeding (if you’re able to pump there’s obviously more milk there) just sit down, watch tv, accept you’re not doing much else atm (assuming there’s not an older child) and try find some enjoyment in that if you can.
but also if you want to stop you can stop!
