The teenage years are fucking brutal.
I didn’t believe people that said the early years were easier.
Apologies: you were of course 100% correct.

It's not a competion.

Aw, I’m sorry you are having a hard time. It will get better…. Sorry that’s not much consolation right now!

VashtaNerada · 23/09/2026 04:44

I think it depends on the child - some are trickiest as babies, some as toddlers, some as teens. Want to share what’s been difficult in particular?

Refusing medicine and mental health problems. I’m exhausted. Absolutely exhausted.

Try and treat them like adults and not children

It depends exactly how old as teens is a long age range

But give them space and don't pound them

They will not listen to you regardless

So pick your battles and don't stress everything everyday

Youre right its always a shock how hard the teen years are (im on my third). With teens the stakes are higher thats the difference, the mental load is massive.

Do you have much support? Any charities or services that can help?

Myfridgeiscool · 23/09/2026 18:06

Can’t access services as in the middle of court proceedings. School have thankfully stepped in this afternoon, after reaching a crisis point.

Agree, absolutely horrendous. Also related to mental health issues. The battle for support is exhausting. I hope things improve for you.

Thanks for making me feel like I’m not alone.
