Not a part of any group chats – should I be worried?

Area two years ago with my husband and children who goes to local and it dawned on me after talking to one of the months in my children’s class that there are WhatsApp groups I’ve never been invited to join any of these despite some of the mums having my number I think should I be worried? Oh yeah, I forgot something. What does it mean when parents aren’t invited?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'd count my lucky stars.

I managed to bring up all my children without needing to be included in a Whatsapp Group. I couldn't think of anything worse to be honest.

That you haven’t asked to be added. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Or it isn’t like a school group chat, but just a group of friends.

I’ve had dc in two primary schools and one secondary and there has never been an official WhatsApp group, though at my youngest’s current primary school there is a Facebook chat for the whole school.

It would never occur to me to add someone unless I was talking with them about it and they said, oh, I didn’t even know we had a chat on Facebook! Could you add me? I’d never look to see if someone was in it. I’d just assume they were if they wanted to be. I have absolutely no idea how I got added (and Dh has never joined). There’s like 100 people in it. I couldn’t be asked with checking to see if someone is or isn’t in it and adding them spontaneously. I think this is the sort of thing you need to be proactive about. (I find it very useful btw, but there’s literally max 5 messages a day across all classes).

The only WhatsApp groups I have are with my friends and I wouldn’t really add another random mum to that unless she started to spend a lot of time with us or her dc did. We mostly use them to figure out whose house our dc have trotted off to when we need them home for dinner, so they are more utilitarian than for school gate gossip.
