Brick phone options for anxious autistic daughter at secondary school

DD has started secondary school, she is autistic but at a mainstream school atm. She has terrible anxiety and won’t approach teachers for help. I’m looking to possibly get her a brick type phone (she has an iPhone) to keep in her bag to be able to text me if she’s really really struggling and needs me to come to the school.
What ones are best or is there anything else suitable that she can contact me on? Thanks

What are the mobile phone rules in her school?

Assuming phones are not allowed if you turn up at the school one day saying she contacted you for help, she'll get in trouble for having used a phone.

I think it would be better to ask for a conversation with her form tutor or someone in pastoral, to chat through with her how best to ask for help. There may be something like a card she can show a teacher, allowing her out of the classroom, or her form tutor could check in on her at the start of each day.

She is going to need to work with SENCO to use time out cards as they will not take kindly to her using a phone. I know all autism presents differently but my DD has been 'trained' for want of a better word to use the cards instead of panicking and having a meltdown or saving it until home so she can't sleep.

Did you have an transition/settling in sessions with SENCO, if not, get onto them straight away.

I say this as having any type of phone is a risk, if other children saw her they might make life hard for her and staff would confiscate or she'd get into trouble, autism or not.

Phones are banned in schools unless a medical device they won't take to that well. Speak to the senco.
