A mothers rage - Child grooming and exploitation - a broken system and a lost child

This is my rage, my hurt and a broken system. A few months ago I wrote about how my 15 year old daughter had just walked out the door - and after 14 years of bringing her up on my own and having an amazing relationship - a life she was settled in and went to art club, had a part-time job, planned to be a vet, ride horses and had friends…she just got up and walked away. Well a lot happened after I last wrote and all I can say is that the last eight weeks have been hell. There was a back story to my daughter leaving that I did not understand the full picture of. For the ten months up until the day she suddenly quit her life with her maternal family she was being groomed by a fifty year old female at her riding stable. The lady saw her jumping a horse when she was 14, and approached her without my knowledge.my daughter would volunteer all day Saturdays and had done for years. The lady was a livery owner at the yard. In the first few months my daughter started training her horse with her elite riding group and normal instructor. To begin with riding coats and riding items started quickly flooding our home. I questioned them as the items came in and was told they were borrowed and so forth, I was also told the lady was married, And believed it to be true. Looking back the warning signs were there…the lady quickly started replacing my daughters riding coats and clothes despite her having top of the range clothing. I did politely say thank you but please not to worry about buying us riding equipment. I tried to keep the focus on riding at the yard. Very swiftly, I then found items of home clothing brought for my child. Jumpers, tops, high cut shorts…and then one day I found underwear hidden at the bottom of my child’s school bag. While all this was going on the lady was texting me asking if she could take my daughter to a riding event, or a competition..or would I let her take my child to Iceland riding or stay the night at her home…obviously no was the answer. It was hard to understand that this was grooming. I didn’t know a lot about grooming and I just naively believed she was married and it blindsided me. I did react throughout, I put nspcc digital protection on her phone; I put parental boundaries in, no getting in her car or going to her house, but I was scared that I might have it wrong, that I might make the situation go further underground, that my daughter might pull away during her GCSEs. When I found the underwear I sat my daughter down and discussed child grooming and adults abusing power, she was calm and said no I’m fine. I wanted to believe her. I wanted to trust her. I also put multiple restrictions and parent boundaries on the lady in writing. I also asked to meet up but every time she cancelled. In the final 4 months before my child left I remember feeling like I didn’t know her anymore, I remember feeling like she was present but somewhere else in her mind. A week before my child left home, I challenged the lady in person, she was very apologetic but immediately put disappearing messages on our messaging thread, In the days after my child left her whatsapp thread with me was whipped remotely; the suspected groomers WhatsApp thread was whipped remotely and the fathers WhatsApp thread was shopped remotely, I realised she had not left me..she had left the restrictions I was putting on the relationship with the groomer and she went to the parent of least resistance - the father. Who shockingly gave the groomer full access to my daughter despite the deputy head of her school telling him of the high risk of grooming and exploitation, since the day she left I have been to one end of the country to the other fighting to keep her safe. I challenged the groomer, I challenged the father, I raised it with the DSL at the school and the deputy head put it on cpoms. The police opened a priority 1 niche criminal grooming and exploitation track, I worked with two sets of police and two sets of social services, the ivison trust ranked the case priority 1, I worked with the NCA, and took the case to the High Court in London…when the police failed..I managed to get the IOPC to open a schedule 3 investigation and to reopen the case. I dragged the case into the light but it has not been enough. My child’s bedroom is still and every item and memory untouched, her harp lays silent, the art paints left on the table exactly as she left them. It’s been 60 days since I last heard her voice. Honestly it’s been horrendous. I found myself on beachyhead at one point..just the pain on my chest doesn’t go away..I have a moment when I wake up and then it hits me again, over 15 safeguarding agencies failed - each working in a silo with no communication. I have an emergency child protection hearing in October with the father before the judge and I will fight to have protective orders put around the groomer. I am confident that the lady is grooming my child. I have a £3,300 financial track, a letter written by her to me admitting my child has been having showers at her house and she has been picking her up at the stables and driving her miles away to her house, and she has been generously buying her gifts; I have CCTV, independent witness etc. on every mathematician model, the grooming track is identical to recognised models of grooming. And the father, well he has litigated against me for years, and he exploited her most vulnerable moment for personal gain - he then worked with groomer to remove the evidence and feed live information of a criminal track into child grooming. The evidence is overwhelming, But it’s not enough to bring her home due to her age. Therefore I work now to safeguard her, but it’s been killing me. Honestly it’s broken me.
