Hi,
im doing my 6yr old soon to be7 yr old a party next month, he’s always had house party’s with family and loved it but last yr/this yr he’s been asking for a party with his school friends, I’ve found a location but now I’m so nervous and anxious, what if none of the 24 kids turn up, what if the party isn’t fun, what if the parents don’t bring them due to the timing of the party or if they don’t like the activity (laser tag).
im even worried about posting the invitation on the group chat and waiting for the reply’s 😂
i just want him to have a great day and be the attention for 2 hours, he even said mum what if no one comes 😩
anyone else felt like this but still went ahead with it ?
I keep thinking maybe I should have waiting until he was abit older

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No, the big parties die down 8+ now is the time. People will love it or say they love it so it doesn't matter either way. Don't overthink, get the invite out!

Laser party for 6-7 year olds is going to be fun. So I wouldn’t worry about that. Make sure you get firm replies in good time. Perhaps expect half to turn up, so don’t over-cater. Do you have to pay by numbers or just for the whole room and activity? 24 sounds like a lot of kids.

Yes I felt sick every year I organised a party . Before school I just invited my friends with kids and that was fine but once he started school I hated the lack of control. The hard part I found was getting responses. Generally if they confirmed they came. I usually include his cousins and my god children so there was a decent number even if some school friends couldn’t make it.

Don’t overthink it. We’ve done a few big parties now and the kids always have fun! Give them an activity, some food and a chance to run around with their friends and they’ll be happy!
Get the invitations out with plenty of notice so that people can get it scheduled in ☺️
Don’t make a big deal of anyone not coming. I’ve always just said to mine that all families are very busy and that not everyone can make it to every party, just like we’ve had to miss a few because we have other commitments 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m sure it’ll be fab and he’ll have a great time!

Also just to say in my experience big parties were usually nursery- year 4 . After that it was generally take 3 kids to cinema and McDonalds or similar.

So I paid for 15 which was the minimum and the I can add on extra for any child if it goes above that, food and everything is included so I just need to arrange party bags and cake, I’m giving 4 weeks notice for the invites hoping it’s enough.

Yes I was thinking I’ll do this one big class party for him and the going forward it would be smaller ones, ah so anxious but all your comments have definitely eased it , me and his farther are super quiet people and he came out as this big social bunny who loves to make friends with everyone so he’s made us come out of our comfort zone 😂

I’m amazed you’ve got until 7 before he was begging you for a friends party. I got until 4 with both of mine 😩. Yeah at least a months notice, and give another prompt in the chat 2 weeks before just saying you are getting food organised and need final numbers (so many mums open messages mean to reply and then forget!)

Thanks for feedback and yes I know 😂 tbh he was asking last yr when he turned 6 but I wasn’t prepared enough, now he’ll be over the moon, just hoping we get atleast 10 kids to attend ☺️
