Kids whose mums had another child with their stepdad, what did your mum do that made you feel included, loved and important after your sibling came along?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@SendforJulietOne did it affect you negatively later in life?

you do exactly the same as you would if you were having another baby with their dad.

dont be holding the baby when the older sibling first meets them

get a present for the older sibling to give to the baby and a present from the baby to the older sibling

include the older sibling in suggesting baby names, choosing things for the baby while getting something for themself also.

allow sibling to touch the baby bump

when baby is here and starts crying but your in the middle of something with older one say ‘ hold on a minute baby just helping big sibling’ and finish what your doing and then attend to baby as baby will obviously be safe while you finish tying a shoelace or cutting uk an apple for older sibling

say things like ‘ do you want to show baby how to crawl? How to smile? Your toys?

Every child is bound to be jealous. Imagine if your husband came home with another woman and said ‘this is my new wife. We are all going to live together. It doesn’t mean I love you any less’. The important thing is to make time for the older child and allow them to express their jealousy otherwise it will warp their personality later in life. My GP was divorced and had a baby with his new partner. He told me his daughter from a previous marriage asked ‘are you going to forget about us now?’ However every child recovers from this temporary jealousy.

No, I'm a perfectly happy 38 year old with a perfect lovely sister.
