Feeling helpless about the NHS

I am writing this as I feel like a need to vent. My DS has had 8 ear infections in the past 7 months and countless antibiotics. He is living with daily pain and miserable. He has been referred urgently to ENT but it is a 26 week wait. We scraped together £250 to see a private consultant who did the pressures in his ears (10 second test) and said they were fine and that was it. I feel so helpless and don’t know what else to do.
Today has been a hard day, he has had ear, throat and tummy pain all day, is very congested and keeps getting upset. He’s been very tired and irritable. We attended NHS 24 to be told his ears were inflamed and that was it again. Just felt like I had to write this down as I don’t know what else to do.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thank for everyone’s comments and really helpful suggestions. I took him back to the GP yesterday who was lovely and noticed the difference in him particularly his energy levels. She has requested some bloods just to rule out anything else going on. I have also phone the referral management line and said we can attend if there are any short notice cancellations, the woman was really helpful and is keeping his details beside her if an opening becomes available.
we have the paediatrician on Monday so I will see if he is able to do something, consultant to consultant. I have also found one of the consultants from our local hospital who does private appointments although his are currently 1 month away (better than 6 months I suppose) so I am going to book that as a safety net.
Hopefully things will be a bit more positive soon
