How can I learn more about Taylor Swift for my daughter?

My daughter - Britneigh - has recently become OBSESEED with Taylor Swift. I know of a few of her songs (Shake It Off, I Knew You Were Trouble etc.), but I'd like to know a bit more to help bond with my daughter.

Has anyone got any recommendations of sources I could use to learn more?

Er ...

Google?
Wikipedia?

Britneigh?

Is there a weird name spelling troll here this evening?

Brit-nay or Brit-knee?

redskyAtNigh · 14/08/2026 20:28

Listen to some of her songs. Or, if you want bonding, ask your DD to play her favourites on a car journey and talk about why she likes them.

How old is your daughter, incidentally? If she's younger than a teenager you might want to be a bit selective about what she listens to.

@redskyAtNigh Thanks for your advice! Currently listening to Britneigh telling me all about the emotional significance of All Too Well (Ten Minute Version).

Genuinely don't understand why people think my spelling of Britneigh is weird! It's pronounced Brit-knee (with a silent k)

Miss Americana documentary on Netflix and the eras tour series on Disney. That should cover it.

ZaraCC · 14/08/2026 20:52

Love this - I have been a Swiftie since before she became really big! I reccomend downloading her earlier albums on spotify (especially if your daughter is young). Knowing the songs is all it takes really! They often have Taylor impersonators concerts in local towns where kids get dressed up and have a ball! I have no children so can't go!:)

Watch the eras tour on Disney+ together and the documentary

Just keep listening to the music, you’ll become intrigued and start doing your own deep dives Grin ATWTMV is a great place to start.

Listen to 1989, Folklore and the Tortured Poets Department - your life will never be the same again. Incredible song writing, lyrics and story telling (& I defy you not to cry listening to loml)

Just had a lecture about why "I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here" is such an emotional line. I've just had a listen for the first time, and I love it! ❤️

Well "neigh" is not usually pronounced the same as knee...

Why would anyone use their dd's actual name on a thread? For laughs?

Caaarrrl · 14/08/2026 21:44

Surely not a real thread. Reported.

What makes you think that? I think there are lots of teenage girls who like Taylor Swift...

The OP also has another thread on the go about her daughter "Tamara". Take from that what you will.

leavesinthebreeze · 14/08/2026 21:51

Brit-Nay? Is that how it is pronounced 🙈

Brit-neigh
Brit-bray
Brit-whinny

I would just like to confirm that I use code names for my children on this site to protect their privacy. I like to use silly names and have a laugh about them.

It's just my sense of humour!

No, my daughter is not actually called Britneigh 😂

Yes there are, but how many people have no idea about using a search engine to find out more about one of the biggest celebrities in the world?
