Toddler slapped my baby in a shop while parents stood by

Was in a major clothes regular earlier today with my young baby (think 3/4 months). They’ve just started sitting in the pram. A young toddler (about 2.5 years old) comes up to me, I couldn’t find thier parents and was looking around and asked where there mummy or daddy was. Mum and dad come over then the child hit my baby across the leg, parents said sorry but then the child did it again but this time launched over and slapped my baby on the face which left a mark. I told the parents they needed to control their child and they said the child was in nursery but nothing else. By this point I was so angry that I just walked off as I wanted to make sure my baby was ok. What would you have done? I have never come across this situation and have another older child, they were not the easiest of toddlers so I always had them on reins.

I would have done the same as you. They absolutely need to be watching their child more closely so it doesn’t have the chance to go up to your baby. Crap lazy parents. They should have been mortified and apologetic.

I probably would have told the child off myself and the crappy parents would have probably gone mental - it sounds like you stayed calm and left the situation which is probably for the best!

I would have gone mental.

At the first slap on the legs, I’d have used my body to block the shitbag, toddler, and gone between the kid and the pram so the second hit couldn’t have happened.

At the second hit, I think I would have reflexed and grabbed their wrist and if the parents had a go at me, I’d have a go right back.
