be warned, this is disgusting but i just wondered what you mums and dads would do if this was your child.

My DP's ex has a 2 year old DS who the other day...wait for it....bit of the gerbils head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bit it clean off, and there was blood everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her and her DP found it hilarious and just cleaned DS off and that was the end of that.

I was horrified! Poor gerbil!

I have a 2 year old and i know he wouldn't dream of doing this to an animal....but also, would you have taken the child to get checked out by the doctor to make sure he didn't catch anything??

I don't believe it would be possible for a 2 year old to bite off an animal's head

on top of which the overuse of exclamation marks is surely an example of mania

so all in all ... good trolling

loopylou6 · 27/06/2008 13:54

Yes i couldnt imagine my gerbils patiently holding still whilst a child carefully bites it head off

SilverSparkle · 27/06/2008 14:03

Loopylou6 and Twiglett, I know it sounds ridiculous but i wouldn't waste my time making up such a story, my life really isn't that boring. The fact is, this is what i have been told and i believe it. The exclamation marks are to show my surprise and nothing to do with mania

I only wanted to know whether the child would need some sort of check up to make sure he was ok.

either you are lying or you have been lied to.

loopylou6 · 27/06/2008 14:10

SS i wasnt suggesting that you where making it up, if you read my post i was saying that i thought u have had your leg pulled

madamez · 27/06/2008 16:33

Yes SS I think you have been fibbed to either out of mischief or because somewhere down the line someone misunderstood the story he/she was reporting. Because it dosen't actually sound at all feasible.

Has anyone looked at SNopes yet BTW?

getmeouttahere · 27/06/2008 18:28

bollocks

reethi96 · 27/06/2008 18:36

There is no way that a child would be able to have the strength to do this.

Rachmumoftwo · 27/06/2008 18:48

Do two year olds have all their teeth? You would need a full set to bite off the head of a small rodent I believe.

Blandmum · 27/06/2008 18:57

Their heads are also rather large for a 2 year old mouth.

There is also a significant amount of muscle, connective tissue and bone to be got through! and well as quite tough skin.

I have dissected rats while doing my A level Biology, and it takes quite a bit of time with a very sharp scalpel to cut a head off. I don't think a 2 year old could do this

zookeeper · 27/06/2008 22:04

I don't know why I'm finding this thread hilarious but I am - I think it's the heartfelt expressions of sympathy for the gerbil lol

zookeeper · 27/06/2008 22:06

but I do extend my sympathies to the gerbil's family lol lol

Habbibu · 27/06/2008 22:08

Not sure I could get a gerbil's head into my mouth... Only way I think it could be true is if the gerbil were pretty much a newborn, but that doesn't fit with later post.

my ds bit off the cats nose about 3/4 months ago.... he was 20 months at the time.... the cat is a huge tomcat and is well aware that ds is a danger to him as he's a bit over enthusiastic with hugs etc yet still let ds get him in a headlock and bite his nose off before scratching his face

you'd be surprised what toddlers can manage to do to animals.

at the parents laughing though, hope it is a wind up for that fact alone

threestars · 28/06/2008 08:35

isn't killing small animals how serial killers start out??!
All credit to the 2 yr old's strong teeth. Must have good dental hygiene.
