Can my husband attend our six-year-old’s passport appointment alone?

I have had to book an emergency passport renewal appointment for my 6year old. I feel like the website is implying it doesn’t matter who goes to the appointment and my child doesn’t need to be there. I was the one who applied for him. So could his dad just go on his own? It’s 1.5hrs away so I’d rather avoid us all having to go if possible! But don’t want to mess it up and then not be able to go on holiday of course!

Of course

I would phone and verify. I had to book an emergency appointment for a child and I’m pretty sure both parents had to be there (but this was for emergency travel docs rather than passport, as we were already abroad).
