Hazel Grove - Teen Youth clubs

Morning,

I'm a dad, hope that's OK.

My 14 year old daughter is lonely. She has taken to chatting to strangers online which obviously I'm trying to stop but she won't listen. There are parental controls and we have bought software to monitor her phone (Qustodio) but she is using Snapchat and it can't monitor those.

She has now decided she wants to meet a boy online and obviously I am having to block it. Grooming gangs etc. She has taken to getting on busses to places and so has subsequently spent more time grounded than doing anything else.

But the root cause is that she is lonely. She's not very streetwise and so I took her to some clubs out of our area and she became scared. She's full of bravado like most teens but deep down not very confident.

Are there any youth clubs in or around Stockport or can anyone suggest anywhere she might make friends?

Really struggling to find somewhere. When I was a kid there were loads of youth clubs.

Thanks in advance

Is there anything particular she’s interested in? I’m local to you but have younger boys but my friends with girls that age tend to have specific hobbies eg one is on to horse riding, another drama etc and there’s lots of clubs for specific interests. Or even guides? Maybe just try out a few things and see if anything sticks .
Hope she finds something

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be many youth clubs now as many were shut down under the last government.

How about Explorers? Ours has a good mix of boys and girls.

Does she have many friends in school?

She's into music, and arts and craft.

Explorers is a potential. That's not a bad shout at all. I might see if she wants to try that.

She really struggles with friends in school and unfortunately got in with a few bad eggs and now I'm struggling to keep her reigned in.

So she has two friends and every time they spend time together she is up to no good. I'd struggle to ban her from seeing them without alternative friend ship groups - which brings me back full circle to the purpose of my post.

I think if you’re struggling with her this much then I would talk to the School. Generally DC who gravitate to the more wayward pupils will do it wherever they go.
