How much do oak processionary moths affect family life around Esher?

Hi, we are thinking of moving to Esher/ Thames Ditton/ East Molesley. We have heard about the oak processionary moths in the area. How bad is it for residents? Is this affecting residents enjoying their gardens in the spring/ summer or outdoor walks/ spaces?

I live in one of those areas, and it’s Molesey, not Molesley!
But I’ve not heard any stories of.anyone being affected, nor it impacting on using gardens or local woodlands.

You can see them. They were on a tree on my Dc's school playground - dealt with v quickly and caused no problems except when kids tried to throw them at each other. London, but nowhere near the areas you mention

If you have no oak tree on your land I fail to see how they could affect you in your own garden.

If you have anxiety about these moths (or more to the point their caterpillars) just don't picnic leaning against an oak tree in the caterpillar season.
