What swimming costume is best for a five month old abroad?

I can’t remember what kind of swimming costume I chose for my older children on holiday. What did you put your baby in abroad? She will be 5 months when we go to Spain (in August). Splash about one for extra nappy protection? And if so swimming costume style or wetsuit? I feel that the water is always cold even if it’s hot but a wetsuit in August seems a bit much. Or simply one from a supermarket fine to use?

Something with separate bottom and top so you don’t need to fully undress for a nappy change

One that covers the arms and shoulders for sure

Swim nappy.

for uv protection I’d have something for them to wear.

not sure you can get wetsuits for 5 month olds.

A loose fitting rash top and separate bottoms (as pp advises). Also a sun hat.

We used the splash about happy nappy over a swim nappy and then a full length swim suit with uv protection that has arms and legs and a hat. H&M do some great options and Asda was good at that age.

i wouldn’t worry too much about the water being cold. If it’s abroad it will be warm enough and they’re never in the water for very long. I’d focus on uv protection more and anything that keeps the majority of them covered the best bet.

can imagine a wet suit also being quite difficult to get on and off

Thank you! I’ve just seen all in ones when looking but completely forgot about nappy changing

A wet suit isn’t an all in one swimsuit. It’s insulated. One of my dc always had a wetsuit because she was so skinny that she was never warm in water no matter the temperature of the air.

We always used a swim nappy with a happy nappy over and then long sleeve rash top and long shorts. Jojo was always our go to, but I did find they wore really badly but that may have just been the chlorine in our pool.
