Independent schools in 2026: are full fees still worth paying?

Independent schools 2026. Full fee paying parents reality. Paying more for diluted provision. Cuts, cancellations of Co curricular. Paying for school operating costs and staff perks. Austerity. Zero benefit for the next generation. Unsustainable. School closures and mergers tell the true story. School communication tells a pack of lies.

All parents requesting transparency and details especially on Charitable status, bursary allocation and means testing. Change coming for families.

Not in the school I work in. Staff are pulling out their children as they no longer get the discount they used to get. It’s 10-20% discount depending on length of service, and we still pay the VAT (although our school reduced all fees by 10% VAT equivalent to “pay” half the VAT for parents and staff)

Dabralor · Today 10:17

I don’t know, but I for one don’t send my own kids to the private school that I work at. It’s never been an option because

a. I still couldn’t afford it even with dodgy VAT relief.

b. their local state school is outstanding and they love it. Their education is second to none.

This is the case for a lot of the private school teachers I know. So you can be reassured that this isn’t a universal problem.

id be careful too- this just looks like copy and pasted ChatGPT content; it may be skimming it from somewhere unreliable.
