DS19 months is (or certainly always was) a 90+ centile child and he ate loads. However, last 8-10 weeks appetite has massively slowed down. He picks. A few mouthfuls at most during each meal. He gets two snacks a day (berries or a bit of cheese etc). I have noticed that if he has good company at the table (ie not just me), he will eat a bit more but it takes FOREVER.
I haven’t worried about it too much because nursery say he eats well when he is there and have not noticed much change. But as an example, he used to have a big bowl of porridge at home and then go on and have his breakfast, lunch and tea at nursery and then come home and eat dinner.
I do think there’s a degree of boundary and independence testing going on, but it seems like such a dip in his appetite.
He is otherwise well and I haven’t noticed any other changes.
What are others experiences around this age?
