10 month old not crawling yet, looking for reassurance and advice

Hi everyone,
My LB is 10 months. He is showing no interest in crawling. He is happy to sit independently and reach for his toys to play. But when I put him into all 4s position he cries and ends up frog legged back on his belly, upsetting him more. He doesn't like being on his tummy although we do try! He rolls from his belly to back and if I offer my hands, he will pull himself up.
He loves to put weight on his legs and attempt walking while being held.
He will be starting day care soon and I just really hoped he would be able to get himself around a little bit. So hard when you see other children moving around who are younger. I know they all develop at different rates.

Just looking some reassurance when your little ones starting crawling and did you do anything to help them??

Thank you

My DD didn’t start crawling until just after her first birthday and was also a late walker (around 19 months). She has been referred to orthotics as her feet turn out but she’s running around loads now! I wouldn’t worry too much and honestly enjoy the ease of having them stay in one spot.

If he’s able to sit and can stand (holding onto you or furniture), then it doesn’t sound like there’s anything wrong. Some babies don’t ever crawl, or some do it later than the ‘milestone age’.
For reassurance, my eldest never crawled or rolled. He hated tummy time, never got into crawling position etc. He just loved holding our hands and walking - he walked independently at 9 months. Didn’t crawl until well over 1. He’s over 3 now and you’d have no idea he developed like this!
My second is 10 months and started crawling a couple of weeks ago. But he crawls with one leg tucked under him and the other sticking out, so he’s found his own way of moving. One thing I did with him was get him into kneeling position to play with toys - so maybe get some cushions in a pile, put some toys on top, get baby to be on their knees and playing with the toys on the cushion. And then you can use less cushions so it gets lower until he’s basically in crawling position after a while. Hope that makes sense!

Totally normal! My son never crawled, he just went straight to walking at 13 months but I remember stressing about it so much at the time because everyone else's babies were rolling everywhere. He also hated tummy time! He's now nearly 5 and is by far the most energetic kid out of all the ones we know and has fantastic motor skills. Crawling has been taken out of the milestones now because so many babies are doing it at their own pace/not at all. Sounds like he's much more interested in walking than crawling so I bet he'll skip the crawling stage 😊

DS crawled pretty much exactly on his first birthday.

Neither of mine ever crawled ... DT1 just got up and walked at 11 months, her sister did the same about two weeks later.

None of mine crawled until around their first birthdays. They walked between 16 and 18 months. It was blissful compared to lots of my friends chasing their speedy mobile babies around! no difference now they're all at school - enjoy the pudding phase I say!

Mine never crawled. Around 10 months started pulling up against the sofa and balancing. Started walking at 13 months. Nothing to worry about, every child is different

One of mine never crawled and also keeled over when sitting up. They just moved around by rolling, then at 12 months suddenly stood up and walked.
Perfectly normal teenager now.

My son started crawling at 11 months, first steps at 15 months but then didn’t start walking until 18/19months. Don’t panic.
