No need to comment but just wanted to share my joy in that my toddler (2.5yo) slept through for first time! And is still sleeping now after nearly 12 hours (yes i have been in and checked she is ok).
2.5years of waking 3+ times a night, finally!😂.

Congratulations! I wish you many full nights of sleep in the future.

Fantastic! Well done that girl - and her mom!

Oh gosh I remember that feeling - although dc2 took until 3 to give me a full nights sleep! (Completely my own fault for being a smug cow about dc1 sleeping through from 8 weeks).

I remember feeling like a new woman who could tackle the world! resist the temptation to empty a cupboard/chop down a tree etc.

Well as expected it was a one off 😂, too late @FancyBiscuitsLevel i already cleared out the toy cupboard, pulled up the bathroom lino ready for new and cleared out the kitchen drawers 😂.

I have a 2 and 5 year old, neither of them reliably slept through until close to 2. When I hear parents say their babies slept from 6 / 12 months, I can't help think what a different parenting experience they had.

I have an acquaintance whose baby slept from 3 months. 10- 12 hours a night. Unbelievable.

I used to be one of the smug parents who had a very easy parenting experience! My boy slept through from four months old 11 hours every night, no night feeds, went to bed at 7pm and woke up between 6-7am happy as Larry. Then my daughter was born and I learnt humility the hard way 😂 I’m going to be the OP in a year and a half!

My older kids all slept through from about 18 months and were bottle fed, DD is breastfed, so all the night feeds have been on me, its been exhausting, i really am hoping this is the start of her sleeping longer atleast 😂.

IME 2.5 years was about the norm if you do nothing to speed it up. That was the age both my older DC slept through and the majority of people on the BF/cosleeping (or whatever non sleep train group!) boards I used to be on would report.

DC3 slept through around 18 months because I did approach it more proactively although I still didn't sleep train all in one go with crying. I did a more gentle approach of resettling in his own room rather than bringing into mine and gradual night weaning.

FWIW I don't think the crying methods are wrong, I probably used to but I just think live and let live now, it's a drop in the ocean of a secure and responsive relationship. However I just didn't want to do it, which was the main reason why I frequented those other boards.
