Private speech and language therapy or NHS for a child with GDD?

I would love to know people's experiences about using private speech and language therapy Vs NHS. Little one has a GDD diagnosis & is also awaiting on a hearing test (requested by myself).

We have been under NHS since last summer and he's been seen 5 times since then. Is this normal or should he be having more regular appointments? Obviously we are continuing to do everything they've told us in the meantime, signs etc. There is just no improvement happening really, I fear he may benefit from more frequent appointments rather than the odd one here and there. I really just want to get him all the help I can so he can get to where he needs to be ☹️

Any advice/experiences welcome, thanks everyone!

We went private and it made the world of difference.

NHS said my son, 4 at the time, would not be able to use a comms device and PECs was unlikely but they would put him on a waiting list….

A year later after use of comms device bought privately the NHS reviewed and said he absolutely did need one 🙄

It was expensive but totally worth it in our situation.
